WHAT IS A COOKIE?
Cookies are a piece of data stored by your browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Edge) on your computer or mobile device.
Cookies can help a website to identify users, to remember user preferences, and to help visitors complete tasks without having to re-enter information as they browse from page to page.
There are 3 distinct types of cookies:
Session Cookies expire at the end of the user’s session. The duration of a session depends on the browser and could end when the user closes the tab, closes the browser or even switches apps.
Persistent/Permanent Cookies stay on the user’s browser even after the session is ended. They have individual expiration durations depending on its requirement.
Third-Party Cookies are those which gather data from users’ browsing habits and patterns, and which allow the third-party to track users over multiple websites.
- providing customized access to private areas of the website
- to identify if cookies are enabled or not
- to provide visitors with a convenient user experience
- to track traffic habits and demographics so we can assess and adjust the site for an improved visitors’ experience.
