The Background: The Marker Hotel is one of the most distinctive buildings in Dublin’s new Grand Canal Quarter. This beautiful architecturally designed hotel, with its sleek, urban aesthetic, provides guests with a unique five-star experience.
The Challenge: In keeping with The Marker’s ambition to deliver a five-star service across every aspect of its product offering, the hotel sought to provide its high-end clientele with top-of-the-line IT systems and connectivity.
Our Involvement: As the hotel was being completed in 2012, we were appointed to carry out network implementation including the design, supply and installation of the hotel’s managed internet link, network hardware and software, public IP audio system and automation control.
The hotel opened amid a very public fanfare in April 2013, and to make absolutely sure that everything was in order for its guests from an IT perspective, we had support staff on-site during the first two months, ensuring that there were no ‘teething problems’ to mar the guest experience.
Today, as part of our on-going maintenance contract, we provide day-to-day remote support and also provide peace of mind by offering emergency on-site support for all of The Marker’s hardware and software.
The Outcome: NTES has kept The Marker’s IT support costs to an absolute minimum, without sacrificing on service. We’ve achieved this through our RelyMAX maintenance package, which offers cost-effective call-out rates and remote network management.
Our maintenance contract model is extremely attractive to the client in financial terms. The Marker’s Financial Controller, Lisa O’Sullivan, explained that the hotel’s IT infrastructure is particularly complex, which means that having in-house, 24-hour IT support would require a minimum of three full-time staff. She also reflected that “it would be wasteful to do that when we can get more dedicated IT support and on-going 24-hour access for other issues from NTES”.
In addition to providing the hotel with on-going and reliable IT support, NTES was chosen to implement the hotel’s audio-visual system throughout the hotel. In keeping with The Marker’s upmarket image, the state-of-the-art A/V system delivers audio and video over IP networks, allowing content to be accessed and synchronised throughout the hotel’s network.
